Snow How: Lännen Tractors and Technocor Companies Demonstrate Snow Handling Capabilities of Lännen Machinery

On 3 March “SNOW HOW” seminar on winter maintenance of the city was held at the Consulate General of Finland in Saint Petersburg. The event was organized by the Consulate General of Finland and several committees of the City Government.

In the course of the seminar Finnish colleagues shared their snow handling experience with representatives of Saint Petersburg Administration and cleaning enterprises of the city. The issues considered included, for example, placement of an order of the most effective complex of services of city territories maintenance in Finland in the winter period as well as discussion of new technical methods and techniques applied in Helsinki.

In their reports Finnish companies producing snow handling machinery and technologies told the representatives of St. Petersburg administration and the State Unitary Road Enterprise about their product novelties.

In the course of his presentation Enver Alanen, a representative of Lännen Tractors Company, spoke about the well-known model lines of Lännen backhoe loaders and multifunctional Lundberg municipal machines. He also introduced the upgraded Lundberg series to the audience. 5210, 6210 and 7210 models of all-season multifunctional Lundberg municipal machines differ from all their competitors by the improved control system of the machine with CAN BUS which allows remote in-line information processing and online monitoring of the following parameters:

  • fuel consumption control;
  • control of the mileage and operation of the mechanisms;
  • control of the route and schedule of operation.

All information necessary for the operator is presented via CAN BUS on the display. The new system allows machine diagnostics directly from the display as well as adjustment and storage of the parameters of the electric hydraulic system.

Commenting on what he heard during the seminar Vladimir Abramenko, chairman of the Committee for Improvement of Saint Petersburg, said that most Finnish companies represented were long-time partners of St. Petersburg. When asked whether he took an interest in the presentations he said that Finnish snow handling machinery had always been interesting. Several years ago Saint Petersburg purchased snow handling equipment in the amount of about 5 bln. rubles and it is not improbable that in the course of the next purchases priority will be given to high-quality imported machinery.

The event continued in informal surroundings in the residence of the Consul-General of Finland where Mrs. Pirjo Tulokas, the hospitable hostess, personally welcomed all the guests and found time to talk to each of them.
